Bolloré opens largest air logistics base in West Africa

Bolloré Transport & Logistics has opened the largest logistics base in West Africa, after 18 months. Located near the Abidjan airport, in Côte d’Ivoire, the 9,000 m2 base should increase inbound and outbound air traffic.

Completed with the help of several local companies, and costing 3.4 billion CFA francs, this launch is phase two of the Aérohub project. Phase one included the commissioning of a 6,000 m2 tri-temperature platform in 2019, near the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny airport.

Joël Hounsinou, Managing Director of Bolloré Transport & Logistics Côte d’Ivoire, stated: “This new air logistics base is part of the structuring projects to which we have been committed for several years, aiming at modernising the logistics infrastructure in Côte d’Ivoire. Three years on from Aérohub, this new infrastructure will enable us to meet the growing needs of our customers and strengthen our role as a regional logistics hub.”

The West African hub has received an EDGE certification, for its sustainability. Indeed, it integrates features such as a smart air conditioning and temperature control system, automated lighting system, and rainwater reservoir, to water plants and minimise risk of flooding.
