The Niger River gas pipeline crossing project was in urgent need of drilling equipment to stay on schedule. Hansa Meyer Global Africa Abuja was brought in to support the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and its subcontractors deployed on the Niger River Drilling project.

According to the company, only a few days before the X-mas week started, final decisions were made to consolidate remaining and “just in time” assembled critical items such as the drilling head, platform steel construction, electrical control units installed in 2x 20ft Containers and to arrange a B-747 Charter Flight solution out of Liege, Belgium to Lagos, Nigeria.

Teams at Hansa Meyer Global Airfreight, Germany and the company’s ECOWAS office in Abuja have worked jointly with NNPC Tunnel Service Teams to move the cargo in time and on budget to the final destination. Despite load planning challenges to spread the weight of various heavy items, the company also had time challenges to deliver, customs secure, load, manoeuvre and lash the shipper’s own electrical containers in the main deck of the freighter.

According to Hansa Meyer, the cargo arrived in Lagos, 10 hours ahead of the agreed delivery schedule
