Sotramar & De Keyser and DAS Logistics have made a step in creating an international end-to-end logistics partner for airfreight and maritime freight by merging into Naxco Belgium. The company is part of Naxco Group.

The two companies already have an established working relationship, and have combined experience of more than 65 years in maritime freight and airfreight forwarding. “Not only are we now uniting our freight forwarding services for airfreight and maritime freight, customs, transport, and storage as one company, we are also responding to the multimodal transport needs of our customers anywhere in the world. This merger is a major step forward in our network and administrative simplification. The reactions are already very positive.”

Naxco Belgium is the right strategic fit

Naxco Belgium works with a team of 42 employees from its locations in Antwerp and Brucargo-Zaventem. The merged company will have a combined annual turnover of €35 million and collaborate with an international agent network that supports the commercial and operational activities.

According to Sven De Meester, this merger fits the current strategy and developments. “As part of a leading global group, we realise there is a ceiling to the growth of shipping agencies, partly because large shipping companies are developing these services in-house. To achieve our growth strategy, we are investing heavily in the expansion of our forwarding department, relying on the excellent reputation of both forwarders.”

De Meester added that as well as Naxco Belgium, Naxco France will also be launched as a forwarder soon. This way, the company is aiming to build its image and brand name both nationally and internationally.

As well as Naxco Belgium, DKT (De Keyser Thornton) & Unamar will continue to exist as independent shipping agents as part of the Naxco Group umbrella.

Integrated freight forwarding services

In the maritime freight segment, Naxco Belgium presents itself as a specialist in import, export and project and breakbulk, both in FCL and LCL. In addition to traditional forwarding, Naxco Belgium is also specialised in customs administration, warehousing and logistics services, and door to door delivery.

Additionally, Naxco Belgium is a full-service forwarder by air, with a branch at Brucargo-Zaventem. The company will handle forwarding but also freight, and offers logistics services such as storage and special handling.
