7 Worldwide Logistics moves chemical plant from Italy to India

The Bremen-based logistics company, 7 Worldwide Logistics (7WL), is handling the transportation of chemical plant equipment across continents, from Italy to Mumbai. Around 250 to 300 containers and 1500 cubic metres of over dimensional cargo (ODC) are being moved.

The Express Global Logistics, nominated 7WL, its Exclusive Project Network (EPN) Partner, for the task. Indeed, the Mumbai-based company is the contract holder of the complete logistics chain towards the buyer.

POL-Inowex Poland has been a partner in the dismantling of the Italian chemical plant, and Logimar Italy has also provided support.

Due to much of the cargo from the chemical plant being considered as dangerous cargo, many precautions are required, in line with the The International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code. Additional industrial cleaning is also required.

The responsibilities of 7WL during this transportation project include on a logistical side the purchase of containers and stuffing of ODC items in Flat Racks, as well as arranging for local transportation and sea freight up to the final port of discharge, Nhava Sheva Port.

On the administrative side, their duties include managing customs clearance, including handling IMDG and  Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) paperwork.

The operation has been ongoing for several months, with weekly shipments of normal Full Container Load (FCL) cargoes as well as ODC units on flats. It is estimated to end in late 2022.
