Braemar appoints John Beckwith as group director of human resources

Beckwith has over three decades of experience in human resources and has also worked in mergers and acquisition, and as a senior executive roles in Clarksons Shipping, OEConnections, ED&F Man Capital Markets, Man Group, and MF Global.

Beckwith is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This appointment is part of Braemar Shipping Services’s strategy to double the business’s underlying operating profit by 2024. Indeed, it should strengthen Braemar’s leadership team, as well as enhance the company’s organic growth via mergers and acquisitions. It also represents the company’s investment in the shipbroking and corporate finance teams’ professional development.

Tris Simmonds, Braemar’s COO, commented, “Following the divestment of our non-core assets, the launch of our new brand, and our promise to double the underlying operating profit by 2024, we have optimised our business structure and we’re well positioned for expansion and consolidated growth. To expand in line with those ambitions will require us to make shrewd recruitment decisions. John’s specialisms in M&A and Restructuring and his ability to effectively navigate high change environments will be critical to our ability to capitalise on the expansion opportunities that we have in progress.”
