Godby Shipping, a privately owned shipping company with eight RoRo vessels in its fleet has agreed on a new charter deal with DFDS. Its RoRo vessel MV Midas will go on a time charter to DFDS starting January 1, 2024.

The vessel is currently serving TransProCon until December 31, 2023. The vessel was used in TransProCon service with a combination of liner, project and military cargoes on the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Mediterranean Sea, throughout 2023

For DFDS, Midas will be used to move a combination of trailers, cars and project cargo. DFDS already has two Godby Shipping vessels on charter for a three-year period. The two vessels Lysvik Seaways and Lysbris Seaways were delivered to DFDS in December 2021 and January 2022.

Under the agreement between DFDS and Godby Shipping the two Sto-Ro side port vessels mostly serve the Norske Skog forest product shipments out of Norway to the UK and continental Europe. The vessels are designed for transport of forest products, containers and general cargo.
