PRESS RELEASE – Konecranes has won its largest-ever reachstacker contract from a customer in Germany. The order for 39 units was won in March with Konecranes’ distributor Richter Fördertechnik. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of this year and run until Q1 2021.

The contract is for the delivery of 39 Konecranes SMV 2216 TC3 reachstackers, with modifications to allow for the stacking of 22-tonne, 16-tonne and 6-tonne containers.

“This was a long-negotiated contract that involved many people across the organization. We are pleased with the result and grateful for the work done with our partner, Richter Fördertechnik” said Ralf Gowin, Sales Manager Germany for Konecranes Lift Trucks.

The order is good news for the Finnish crane manufacturer, which has been hit hard by the outbreak of Covid-19. The company is currently discussing temporary lay-offs of 2,000 employees in response to the sharply fallen demand for its products.
