Konecranes sends 2,000 employees home for 90 days
PRESS RELEASE – Konecranes has concluded its negotiations with the Finnish works council regarding temporary layoffs covering all of the company’s employees in the country, some 2,000 in total.
The negotiations were started last week due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The temporary layoffs will be carried out based on the needs of the various business units or functions in the country, with measures to also include options such as shortened work weeks.
As stated last week, the period of the temporary layoffs will be up to 90 days at most during 2020. In addition to Finland, Konecranes has already been active in reducing costs across the full scope of the company’s global operations. With the measures, the crane manufacturer is responding to a significant decrease in demand.
