Doyle Shipping Group sets own heavy-lift record

Doyle Shipping Group, a Dublin-based services and logistics company, has completed their largest and heaviest lift, with a single Liebherr mobile harbour crane. The crane was used to lift a gas turbine rotor, on Monday, August 29th.

The gas turbine rotor’s dimensions are 12.45 metres in length by 4.42 metres wide by 3.90m tall. Its gross weight is 109,000 kilograms. It was lifted by the LHM420 MC6 crane at Ocean Pier in Dublin. The operation was managed by Doyle Shipping Group’s (DSG) stevedoring division Dublin.

The LHM420 MC6 crane has a lifting capacity of 124 tonnes, a jib length of 48 metres and a total weight of 371 tonnes. Its hoisting and lowering maximum speed is 120 metres per minute. The gas turbine rotor unit is now going into storage, but will be transported to a power station in the southeast of Ireland in future.
