Finnish project logistics and heavy transport specialist, Ahola Special, part of the Ahola Group, has ended a year on a high with the delivery of project cargo for a paper facility in Germany. Ahola delivered two pulper drums from Finland to Germany, weighing 141 tons each with a length of 32 metres.

The project covered overall project planning and management, and it included a combination of road, sea and barge transport with the necessary additional services. Ahola took care of every step of the transport from the manufacturer in Finland to delivery at the site in Germany.

The video reveals that the units were built by Valmet, a developer and supplier of technologies, automation and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries. In December 2021, Valmet was contracted by Model Paper Eilenburg to supply an extensive paper machine grade conversion rebuild with an automation package to Model Paper Eilenburg in Germany.

In the project, the paper machine, which currently produces newsprint grades, will be rebuilt to produce lightweight, recycled containerboard grades. The deliveries are in line with the planned start-up in the first quarter of 2024.
