Blue Water Shipping targets growing oil industry in Guyana

Blue Water Shipping has opened a new project logistics office in Guyana expecting to profit from the growing oil & gas industry in the region. “We see an increasing demand for complete project management”, says Thomas Bek, Blue Water’s Global Director for Energy & Projects.

“It is a fact that the activities within the oil and gas industry in this region are on the rise and will be so for the next years, and we have therefore found it natural to intensify our focus in this area”, Bek says. “This will also be matching our strategy about a strong global set-up with offices at the industry’s key locations so that we can be close to the clients and thus in the best ways provide them with our services.”

Blue Water Shipping already carried out a number of projects in the region assisting companies like Saipem en ExxonMobil with transport and logistics.

The Danish project logistics provider says it already manages large volumes of cargo coming into Guyana. It will now expand the range of services to include shore base, customs clearance, warehousing, trucking, laydown management, heavy haulage and lifting services for energy and project-related business into and from Georgetown.

The company has partnered with Peterson Logistics, another provider of energy-related logistics, “as the two companies together will be able to provide strong and reliable services to the industry”, Blue Water states. In August last year, Peterson Logistics was awarded a large logistics contract by Repsol for its Kanuku block off Guyana.
