Elbe ports launch low-water resistent service for project cargo

In cooperation with Deutsche Binnenreederei, Sächsische Binnenhäfen Oberelbe have launched a liner service for project cargo and heavy loads: the Elbe Project Cargo Line (EPCL).

The service is operated by inland vessels with a limited draught, which are able to sail in the generally low water levels on the Elbe. With a minimal draught of 1.20 metres in the fairway, EPCL is able to transport project cargo between the inland ports of Lovosice, Decin, Dresden, Riesa, Torgau and Rosslau on the one hand and the sea ports of Hamburg and Cuxhaven on the other.

Deutsche Binnenreederei will make push barges available at the six inland ports so that the tonnage is immediately available.
