Smart power points in Port of Amsterdam Port of Amsterdam

The Port of Amsterdam has made shore power even more accessible to the inland shipping operators. Near the end of 2022, the Port of Amsterdam replaced the shore power points on the inland shipping jetty in the Nieuwe Houthaven with ‘smart’ shore power points.

This now means that all the shore power points in the port are now smart, ergonomically designed, making the plugs very easy to connect. An additional advantage is the fact that Port of Amsterdam can reset the power points remotely in case of malfunction.

The port authority has also reinforced the embankment of the breakwater in the Houthaven. Therefore it is no longer obligatory to moor ‘bow to front’. It is possible to also moor with the stern near the shore power point.

As a result of placement of the smart shore power points throughout the port, there will be a generator ban at the waiting berths in the Houthaven, Nieuwe Houthaven and Minervahaven as of mid-January 2023.
