New warehouse ready at Port of Oostende REBO terminal
REBO, a unit of the Port Oostende in West Flanders, has completed the construction of its 6,900 square-metre warehouse. The facility will enable Port of Oostende and its units to actively participate in the maritime logistics chain, by attracting more traffic.
The port said that REBO invested €3.5 million in the 6,900 square-metre warehouse following the acquisition in October 2019. Since then, the offshore wind terminal has been repositioned to a multipurpose heavy-weight terminal. The investment came in the same year as Port of Oostende completed the full acquisition of REBO, a step in its strategy to participate in the logistics maritime chain actively.
The acquisition provided the port with access to a terminal equipped for project cargo, offshore construction, decommissioning of wind turbines and heavy-weight construction.
“The REBO warehouse provides a range of opportunities in Port Oostende through which we can optimally build the future. I am therefore pleased that we can further develop the strategy of Port Oostende and its subsidiaries,” commented president of Port of Oostende, Charlotte Verkeyn.
REBO will operate this warehouse under its own management. This guarantees that modern logistics and higher interest, namely maximum rotation of goods versus mere storage and optimal planning in the context of, for example, energy transition, can be pursued.
