The market for modular healthcare facilities has been growing in Europe and especially in the United Kingdom. Over a three year period, Van der Vlist group has been helping a client with a number of these projects across Europe.

The UK market has been particularly busy for this type of installation, most recently, 91 units have been delivered to a facility in south wales with a further 55 units being delivered to a hospital in Blackpool. Van der Vlist is responsible for the complete logistics solution.

Prior to transport, it was necessary to carry out route and access analysis. The transport solution included the pre-carriage in Holland, transshipment and sea freight, temporary storage when in the UK, on – carriage and final staging to ensure that the units are delivered in the correct order. On site requirements included craneage, site co-ordination as well as ensuring there is scope for contingency if needed.

These two recent projects were fully installed over three weeks and in the case of the South Wales location required significant changes to the schedule due to the extreme weather that was experienced during February.

In addition to these two projects there have been other installations in Cardiff, London, Glasgow and Newcastle as well Reims in France.
