TransHeroes, a Dutch logistics company, expanded its road freight network by acquiring 100 per cent of the shares in Forwarding Plus, a company with hubs in the Netherlands and in the Czech Republic. This acquisition aims to improve TransHeroes’ road freight services to and from the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia.

The agreement is retroactive to 1 January 2023, as TransHeroes pointed out on Tuesday. The Forwarding Plus staff will remain on and “eventually have Hengelo as its base of operations”. The current Dutch location of Forwarding Plus is in Bunschoten-Spakenburg, over 100 kilometres from Hengelo, which is the TransHeroes headquarters. Currently, Forwarding Plus can count on around 16 to 18 lorries drive daily between the Czech Republic and the Netherlands in a fixed scheduled service.

All parties involved in the deal seem to be satisfied with the outcome. Edwin Asveld, owner and CEO of TransHeroes stated that smaller companies such as Forwarding Plus may struggle to stay up to date with a market that is getting bigger and more digitised. On the other hand, Asveld highlighted the expertise that the Forwarding Plus team can bring to the table, claiming that “these specialists do have a lot of market knowledge”.

Hans Voorbach, Forwarding Plus’ departing director, will stay on for a few months and will then focus on consultancy work. “We have many different customers and with our small but committed team I was looking for continuity for the company”, he commented, adding that a full takeover was the best option.
