Norwegian short sea shipping company, Wilson has continued with the increase of the multipurpose vessels it owns. The latest addition to Wilson Shipowning is the Wilson Aviles, and she is now under Wilson Ship Management.

The vessel has been trading for Wilson on time charter since newbuilding and now also fully owned and managed by Wilson. The vessel, built in 2008 as Hero Omken, is a multi-purpose dry cargo ship equipped for carriage of containers and strengthened for heavy cargo. She is now preparing for trade after changing ownership, management and flag.

The acquisition follows Wilson’s purchase of eleven general cargo vessel from Arkon. The acquisition increased Wilson’s operated fleet to over 130 vessels with 110 of these vessels being owned by Wilson.

The company then stressed that in a strong market situation, it is important for it to purchase and secure the tonnage on good and long-terms conditions. The company therefore considered the transaction favourable in the current market situation and it underpins Wilson’s long-term belief in the market.
