PRESS RELEASE – Meriaura Shipping has added a new ship to its fleet, the 4,450 dwt M/V Friendland. According to the company, the vessel has a favourable dead weight/volume ratio (7200 m3) and is, therefore, a welcome addition to the fleet, because the need for cubic tonnage is growing.

The Friendland has a wide breadth (15,0 m) which makes the vessel suitable for carrying logs and timber as well as project cargoes. “The 2002-built vessel is time chartered long term from a partner, whose vessels Meriaura already has in its fleet”, the company states.

With the addition of the Friedland, the Finnish shipping company now operates a fleet of 15 general cargo vessels ranging from 2,950 to 8,500 deadweight tonnes, three open deck carriers and one ro/ro vessel.

Meriaura has a strong focus on sustainability. The company is working towards a zero-waste fleet, is experimenting with biofuels and was a part of a sustainable ship recycling project.
