G2 Ocean appoints dShip Carriers as sales agent in Japan
PRESS RELEASE – dship Carriers has officially been appointed Japanese sales agent for G2 Ocean, the world’s largest operator of breakbulk vessels. The partnership will focus on project cargo.
Specifically, the agent will help to establish and grow G2 Ocean’s position within the Japanese shipping industry focusing on the plant and project cargo segment.
“We are excited to collaborate with dship Carriers as a way to expand our services throughout Japan”, comments Leif Arne Strømmen, Vice President Project Cargo for G2 Ocean.
“dship Carriers has great talent and insight into the Japanese market. Together with the agency, we hope to strengthen our project cargo footprint by continuing to deliver safe, flexible, efficient and sustainable shipping solutions for both current and new clients”, Strømmen adds.
G2 Ocean was launched in 2017 as a joint venture of two of the world’s largest companies owning open hatch ships, Gearbulk and Grieg Star. Its fleet comprises 100 open hatch and 25 conventional bulk vessels between 23,500 and 73,300 deadweight tons. G2 Ocean’s fleet is among the largest in the world of open hatch gantry crane and jib crane vessels with lifting capacity of up to 150 tonnes.
The company serves 32 trade routes on six continents and makes over 4,000 port calls in more than 70 countries each year. The main commodities transported by G2 Ocean are wood pulp and other forest products, aluminium, steels, granite, and industrial minerals. However, the company has been actively growing its share of project cargo. G2 Ocean aims to double the share of this cargo flow in its total income, Strømmen told PCJ last year.
