UAL starts direct service between Netherlands and East Africa

PRESS RELEASE – Universal Africa Lines is starting a new, direct service between Northwest Europe and East Africa, with calls planned in Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenia.

It will be a direct liner service (no transhipment) with monthly sailings and will be operated in addition to our existing services to West Africa, says the company.

Sailings will be performed by UAL’s boxshaped heavy-lift fleet which is able to transport project cargo, breakbulk, bulk and containers.

The first sailing is planned for 9 November and will be carried out by the MV Andesborg. The vessel will depart from Moerdijk in the Netherlands and call in Pemba, Palma, Mtwara, Dar Es Salaam, Mombasa, Maputo, Beira and Nacala.

“We are very excited about this new service”, comments Harald Maas, director of UAL Netherlands. “Within the same year of starting our new Mediterranean service to West Africa, we are now entering the market of East Africa. East Africa is the new oil and gas hotspot and we are confident that we can bring our same proven service to this emerging market.”
