BigLift transports and installs two 1,700-tonne cranes

PRESS RELEASE – BigLift has transported and installed two 1,700-tonne Grab Ship Unloaders with its heavy-lift vessel Happy Star. The contract was carried out for client IUK.

After successful installation of the new GSUs, the MV Happy Star loaded the two old GSUs and shipped them back to the original manufacturing quay for demolition.

The operation required a vessel that could lift the GSU’s without the use of a stability pontoon, the Dutch heavy-lift vessel operator states. “With her two 1,100-tonne Huisman cranes, the Happy Star was the right vessel for these record-breaking lifts”, the company writes in a statement.
