Anker Logistica y Carga has recently handled the delivery of 17 flexsteel pipe coils and accessories from the United States to Colombia. The delivery has been hampered by the Covid-19 environment that is still affecting the shipping schedule and local truck availability.

For this particular shipment, the cargo was delivered at origin just with four days before the cargo cut-off. However, PCN partners at Leman conducted surveyor origin processes almost at the same time that vessel was loading the cargo. The additional issue during the loading process was the lack of required rigging materials.

Further obstacles were met during the transit due to a bottleneck at the initial destination port where five bulk carriers have been unloading their cargo. The entire logistics process had to be moved to a new destination port. There Anker Logistica y Carga coordinated with the new terminal for the unloading process and made sure time, personnel, cranes and equipment were ready and available for the cargo’s arrival in Colombia to make the direct unloading to trucks.

Once the customs processes were completed, the cargo could be transported to the final destination. As the coils were higher than height restrictions on Colombian highways, additional route planning had to be done to complete the delivery.
