Transporting a pair of reactors from Italy to the Netherlands required a specific vessel, which is why deugro turned to the Jumbo-SAL-Alliance for help. The freight forwarding specialist picked the Jumbo Kinetic for the job due to its shallow-draught capabilities.

deugro was handling the delivery of two reactors from Ortona and Porto Marghera in Italy to the Port of Rotterdam and later on to the southern Germany for Fluor Corporation and Bayernoil Raffineriegesellschaft. However, the project was quite time-sensitive.

The company turned to Jumbo-SAL-Alliance for the job and its heavy lift vessel Jumbo Kinetic to deliver the reactors to the port of Rotterdam, just in time for deugro to handle the next logistical leg. The second leg included the barge transport of the two reactors from the port to the client.

Jumbo Kinetic was chosen for the job since the loading port of Ortona is draught-restricted. The vessel, like many in the Jumbo-SAL-Alliance fleet, has shallow-draught capabilities, enabling it to operate in virtually any port or berthing area worldwide.

Jumbo Kinetic’s crew in close cooperation with deugro, offloaded the two reactors onto two barges in the Port of Rotterdam. From there, deugro delivered the reactors to its clients well before the deadline.

Members of the Jumbo-SAL-Alliance both shared a video of the offloading operation in the Port of Rotterdam which you can watch below.
