BBC Chartering ships the Mantsinen 300, world’s largest hydraulic crane

As the 2022 Breakbulk Europe conference took place in Rotterdam, the Mantsinen 300, the world’s largest hydraulic crane, was loaded onto the general cargo ship BBC Aquamarine, in the Finnish Port of Rauma. This is the biggest Mantsinen material handler to be lifted with a crane onto the deck of a ship while fully assembled.

BBC chartering, a subsidiary of the German Briese Schiffahrt Group, collaborated with hydraulic material handling machines and cranes supplier, Mantsinen, last Friday, June 3rd, 2022. UTC Overseas also provided logistical support.

Weighing 320 to 380 tonnes, the Mantsinen 300 can move cargo up to Panamax class ships, as well as handle heavy general cargo and containers. It is available with either a diesel engine or an electric motor, and its undercarriage can be customised.

The BBC Aquamarine and its crane cargo arrived at their final destination of Jacksonville, Florida, over the weekend. There, the crane was successfully delivered to Linder Industrial Machinery. This model is the first to arrive in the Americas.

The BBC Aquamarine is now on its way to the Panama Canal.
