JSA’s heavy-lift vessels kept busy by large machinery

Heavy-lift vessels operating under the Jumbo-SAL-Alliance are being kept very busy by clients from various industries. 

Heavy lift vessel Calypso recently headed to Ashdod, Israel with a 742 t Mechanical Continuous Ship Unloader (MSCU), for the Italian machinery manufacturing group, Bedeschi. Its sister vessel, the HLV Imke has set course for the Maldives.

The Type 116, 10,000 dwt, heavy lift vessel was recently spotted in Rotterdam loading a pair of dredgers. One unit, measuring 46.24 x 12.53 x 11.55 metres weighed 375 tonnes. The second unit measuring 29.22 x 7.07 x 6.37 metres had a weight of 75.3 metres for a combined total of 450.5 tons, light work for the hevy-lift vessel’s two 450-ton cranes.

Once the cargo was stored and secured on deck, Imke set course for Male, Maldives. According to the vessel’s AIS data, it is already sailing in the Mediterranean.
