CargoCrew International ships stabilisers from Germany to France
The Hamburg-based transportation and logistics company, CargoCrew International, handled the transportation of two stabilisers from Germany to France, for a new shipbuilding project.
Each stabiliser weighs 103 tons and measures 13.25 metres in length, 4.40 metres in width, and 4.30 metres in height. The cargo also included 3 smaller boxes containing some spare parts. The cargo was transported aboard the general cargo ship, Filia Ariea, which sails under the flag of the Netherlands. Built in 2008, the ship measures 90 metres in length and fourteen metres in width, with a gross tonnage of 2,199 tonnes.
CargoCrew‘s scope of the transport included the transhipment and transfer of the cargo, using two floating cranes at the Port of Hamburg. Two floating cranes were needed due to a defective quay wall at the customer’s takeover location in the port of Hamburg and port authorities’ requirements regarding the distance between the quay edge and the crane, as well as the crane position and weight of the cargo.
It also included lashing and welding work onboard the Filia Ariea, as well as transfer by gearless coaster vessel from Hamburg to DAP, a French shipyard. Unloading was not included in the scope.
