The Danish team of the Oslo-based logistics company, Tschudi Logistics, has completed the transport and delivery of a shipment of flanges for wind turbines.

Wind turbine flanges are ring-shaped connectors which are used to assemble the bodies of the steel towers of the wind turbines. The flanges transported in this shipment measured 8 metres in diameter. The Tschudi Logistics team handled the chartering of a suitable vessel, stevedoring and transport of the cargo by road, in specialised trucks.

The flanges were first loaded onto a vessel in the port of Bremen, Germany, where they were lowered into the vessel’s hold horizontally, with a crane. From there, they were shipped to the port of Esbjerg, in Denmark. There, the flanges cargo was loaded onto trucks and delivered to the client. Due to their large diameter, the flanges were slightly tilted on the truck to adhere to safety requirements, and to obtain the necessary permits.
