Independent forwarding and transport consultancy company Manora Logistics has transported components for the Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe de Lion (EFGL) offshore windfarm project. Manora Logistics completed months of preparation and engineering to transport the first batch of components for the floating offshore wind farm.

The units were loaded on the vessel Aura in Turkey and transported to Fos Sur Mer in France at Eiffage Métal site, where the units will be assembled and floated in the coming months.

Manora Logistics will have to complete three more trips in the following weeks as the project is now in full swing. Each transition piece is 29.5 metres high and have a diameter of 6 metres. They weigh just over 360 tonnes each.

The EFGL project is a joint venture between CDC Investment Works and Ocean Winds. This project is WFA “twin brother” with three turbines on PPI floaters. However, with several key innovations slated for demonstration at EFGL project, and thanks to an incremental de-risking process, the EFGL project will allow this technology to reach its 3rd generation, before for mass deployment.

The project is furthermore located in a specific Mediterranean climate, one of the windiest areas in France, with a mean wind speed close to 10m/s, as well a challenging level of turbulence intensity.

Located inside a natural marine park, the project will include very specific devices and environmental assessments such as birds and bat detection and will study eco-friendly design.

Thanks for the article. However these components are for the EFGL or Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe de Lion offshore windfarm, which is one of three pilot projects being developed now in the French Med area, and consist of 3 floating foundations.

These transports are not related to the Noirmoutier project as mentioned in the article. Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier project is indeed a fixed foundation project using 62 transition pieces, off the French Pays de la Loire coast.
