Pot Scheepvaart orders an MPP at Royal Bodewes
Delfzijl-based Pot Scheepvaars has placed an order with its compatriot shipbuilder Royal Bodewes for a single 6,000 dwt multipurpose (MPP) vessel. The two companies have signed a building contract for the 1A Swedish-Finnish Ice Class vessel.
According to Pot Scheepvaart, the construction of the vessel will start in April or May this year. The delivery will take place in the first quarter of 2025.
Royal Bodewes notes this is a new-generation vessel. It will build the MPP at its shipyard in the Northern Netherlands. The vessel will be designed, constructed, and built for carrying general cargo, timber,
paper, wood pulp and bulk cargoes such as coal, grain as well as dangerous goods.
The vessel features a length of 107.2 metres and can transport 301,000 cubic feet of grain in its holds. The two holds measure 38.25 by 12.65 by 9 metres and 48.3 bz 12.65 by 9 metres, each.
Once built, the vessel will join a fleet of 13 MPPs with a deadweight ranging from 4.500-12.000 tons.
