LASO Transportes saw its two international units collaborate to transport oversized cargo across Europe to its final destination in Dresden, Germany. LASO Basque Country and LASO Netherlands joined forces to tackle this complex logistical challenge.

The LASO Basque Country team kicked off this project by loading oversized cargo and transporting it by land to the port of Pasajes in Spain. From there, the parts set sail for Rotterdam. Once in Dutch territory, LASO’s Netherlands unit took the reins, transporting the cargo by road to its final destination in Dresden.

This complex operation demanded seamless collaboration between both LASO teams. They conducted thorough studies and implemented measures to ensure safe passage through the Netherlands and Germany.

Navigating narrow routes

Hauling 6-meter wide cargo across borders presented significant logistical hurdles, particularly in tight spaces. In some instances, street furniture and traffic signs had to be temporarily removed to make way for the oversized trucks. Additionally, special permits were required due to the cargo’s exceptional width.

“Carrying out this transport was a significant challenge due to the size of the parts and the road restrictions involved. Co-operation between the different LASO units was essential to the success of the project,” said the company. “A project of this scale required exceptional coordination, not only between subsidiaries, but also with the other transport modes and the local authorities.”
