COSCO Shipping drives green energy in Egypt and US
COSCO Shipping divisions have been active across various sectors recently helping the green energy development in Egypt and the United States.
The company’s multipurpose vessel, Tian Lu, is en route to Egypt carrying wind power equipment for the Amunet project. The project involves the development, construction, and operation of a 500MW wind power facility. The project will sell power under the terms of a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC).
The project developer is the Amunet Wind Power Company owned by AMEA Power. The project comprises 77 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.5 MW and a tip height of 180 meters.
This groundbreaking initiative will become the largest single-capacity wind energy project in Africa, representing a significant achievement for COSCO Shipping in the region. The vessel is currently sailing in the Gulf of Suez with its destination set for the Port of Ababiya, having passed through the risky areas of Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
Elsewhere, the COSCO Shipping Specialized’s semi-submersible heavy lift vessel, Kang Sheng Kou has completed the transportation of the Atalanti Cable Lay Vessel from Karlskrona, Sweden to New York, USA. Once the Atalanti campaign is complete the Kang Sheng Kou will return to New York to transport the “Atalanti” to its next destination.
