Transformer transport for the record books wrapped up at c-Port Küstenkanal
A record-breaking operation recently took place at the c-Port Küstenkanal. Project forwarder deugro, with assistance from its partner dteq Transport Engineering Solutions, transported its largest-ever transformer. This also marked the largest single item ever handled at c-Port Küstenkanal.
The transformer tipped the scales at 430 tons, and dteq’s crane counterweight added an additional 400 tons. Manufactured by Siemens Energy, this transformer is an essential part of the BorWin5 offshore grid connection system. The system, a 900-megawatt HVDC project developed by TenneT, will connect the He Dreiht wind farm in the North Sea to Germany’s onshore grid. This development will provide climate-neutral electricity to 1.1 million households, significantly impacting the energy transition.
Meticulous planning, technical finesse, and adherence to safety protocols, and precision were demanded by transport engineering during this record-breaking feat.
