Another LakerMax MPP joins BBC Chartering fleet
Deliveries of the LakerMax MPP vessels continue with the fourth unit, BBC Dubai delivered to Briese Schiffahrts and BBC Chartering. The delivery of BBC Dubai comes only a couple of months after it has completed its sea trials.
Briese Schiffahts and BBC Chartering will take delivery of 15 LakerMax MPPs through 2026. BBC Leer, the first vessel in the series, was delivered earlier this year and entered service in June.
The LakerMax vessels are equipped with two powerful Liebherr LS 250 shipboard cranes, capable of lifting up to 500 metric tons combined. The strategic placement of the bridge and crew accommodation maximizes the available deck space, providing ample room for the handling of project cargo.
The vessels’ design emphasizes below-deck cargo capacity, with two box-shaped cargo holds offering nearly 26,000 cubic meters of space. This design choice contributes to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per ton of freight carried.
The LakerMax class is versatile, capable of operating worldwide, including the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes, providing access to key North American markets. This flexibility, combined with the vessels’ advanced features, positions them as a sustainable and efficient solution for the global shipping industry.
