Blue Water aids four-year airport construction in Greenland

PRESS RELEASE – Blue Water Shipping has been awarded a logistical contract by Munck Civil Engineering for construction of a new airport in Nuuk and Ilulissat in Greenland, a project that will last for four years.

The contract will see Blue Water Shipping provide logistical solutions for the entire construction scope of Muck’s biggest project to date and establish an in-house presence at the engineering company.

The first major assignment under the agreement, was the shipment of materials, equipment and modules for the start-up and erection of a camp on the construction site in Nuuk.

Blue Water Shipping chartered the Briese-controlled multipurpose vessel BBC Lagos to ship the cargo from Nyborg, Husavik and Hafnafjordur in Iceland to Nuuk in Greenland.

According to Thomas Albrechtsen, business development manager for projects, Blue Water Shipping was selected due to its project cargo expertise, its many years of experience with transport to Greenland and its extensive representation in Greenland. The company has five offices in the region.
