COSCO Shipping semi-sub giant transports jack-up pair to Abu Dhabi

COSCO Shipping Specialised Carriers informed on Thursday its 50,000-ton semi-submersible vessel Xiang An Kou departed Shenzhen Lantau Island loaded with two jack-ups and took course for Abu Dhabi. The two jack-ups weigh 13,700 and 12,200 tons. 

The vessel has been put into operation earlier this year and with its fast ballast speed, high deck strength, DP-2 system and comprehensive optimisation, it is the world’s most advanced new 50,000-ton semi-submersible, according to the company.

COSCO Shipping Specialised Carriers owns and controls eight semi-submersible vessels, which can satisfy the market demand about 2-10 tonnages.

Xiang An Kou is currently sailing in the South China Sea off Vietnam after departing Shenzhen Lantau Island in the evening of November 30.
