Swire Projects, a projects and heavy lift shipping services division of Swire Shipping was recently involved in a shipment of oversized refinery equipment and materials. 

According to Swire Shipping, the cargo was loaded in Mokpo, South Korea and shipped to Balikpapan, Indonesia. It was destined for the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) in Balikpapan, a strategic national refinery enhancement project. The project is designed to bolster energy resilience and self-sufficiency.

The project is part of a larger initiative to revitalise five existing refineries in Cilacap, Balikpapan, Plaju, Balongan and Dumai, increasing the production by 150 per cent.

The shipment totalled approximately 9,193 cubic metres in volume. It included heavy components weighing around 194 tons and 145 tons. The heavy units were transported on Swire Projects’ versatile heavy lift multipurpose vessel, Pacific Endeavour. The 12,800 DWT vessel boasts two 120-ton cranes.
