Saga Welco tags Bremer Lloyd as booking agent in Bremen for steel and lumber for the Europe-USEC trade
The privately owned shipping and logistics company headquartered in Bremen, Germany, Bremer Lloyd has struck an exclusive deal with the Norwegian operator of open hatch box-shaped bulk carriers, Saga Welco.
Under the agreement starting this March, Bremer Lloyd becomes the sole booking agent for Saga Welco’s monthly sailings from Bremen to the USA East Coast. This strategic partnership will focus on the transportation of lumber and steel shipments.
Bremer Lloyd said the focus of the partnership is to provide its clients in the forest and steel industry with a wide variety of transport solutions. “Saga’s rich experience in handling forest and steel products, combined with their own fleet of highly sophisticated vessels, allows us to offer long-term stability rates and benefits from economies of scale due to a larger intake that are crucial for our clients and the market,” the company said in a statement.
Saga Welco’s fleet includes 49 vessels offering solutions for transportation of forest products, breakbulk, project cargo and bulk cargoes.
It is worth mentioning that on December 31, 2023, Fumitake Shishido completed his contract as president and CEO of SAGA Welco. The company has already started the process to find his replacement. In the meantime, the company board have appointed Trond Moe Hanssen in the position of interim president & CEO of Saga Welco, effective from January 1, 2024.
Hanssen has worked for Saga Forest Carriers AS and Saga Welco AS in various positions since 2000, last serving as SVP Finance & Accounting.
