Construction of the EasyMax 3 begins

Construction has begun on the third EasyMax Type vessel ordered by Wagenborg, from the Royal Niestern Sander Shipyard. This sister ship of the already delivered Egbert and Máxima, is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2023.

Construction of the third EasyMax has started at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander, and was announced on June 28th. This new vessel is expected to be put into operation next year.

Like its predecessors, jointly developed by Wagenborg and Royal Niestern Sander, the EasyMax 3 is an open top multipurpose ice classed vessel, and will have a cargo capacity of 14,000 tons, with a hold volume of 625,000 cft. The vessel combines a large cargo capacity with very low fuel consumption. Due to this, Wagenborg was awarded the KVNR Maritime Shipping Award in 2018.

The EasyMax 2, named the Egbert Wagenborg after the company’s founder, was launched in October of 2020, and underwent a class renewal in April 2022, at the Western Shiprepair in Lithuania, which is part of the BLRT Group.

All Wagenborg docking projects have a special focus on ‘green’ updates, so that they can remain compliant and take the next steps towards increased sustainability. For example, the cargo ship Fuldaborg left the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard after her 2nd class renewal last week.
