Blomberg Stevedoring doubles lifting capacity in Vaasa with new Liebherr crane
Oy Blomberg Stevedoring, a unit of KWH Logistics Group, has acquired a Liebherr LHM 600 crane for the port of Vaskiluoto in Vaasa, Finland, making it one of the largest harbour cranes operating in the northern Baltic Sea.
The heavy lifter was manufactured by liebherr-MCCtec Rostock and delivered to Blomberg Stevedoring at the end of December 2022. The newly built crane has a lifting capacity of 208 tonnes, making it one of the largest harbour cranes in Finland and at the same time in the northern Baltic Sea.
Blomberg Stevedoring noted in its statement that the price tag for the heavy lift crane is around €7 million. The company now has three Liebherr harbour cranes in operation in Vaasa. With the acquisition of this crane, the capacity of the lifting operations performed in the Port of Vaasa will be doubled. As a tandem lift with Blomberg’s second crane, loads of up to almost 300 tons can be lifted.
Blomberg Stevedoring handles significant amounts of different types of project goods in the Port of Vaasa. The crane will serve especially the heavy industry and other export and import customers who need demanding port handlings, such as importers of wind power components.
