The world’s largest ice-class multipurpose ship delivered

COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers have taken delivery of a 68,000-dwt ice-class multipurpose vessel, the Green Kemi. While being the multipurpose pulp ship, the vessel also meets the requirements for the transport of large equipment, as well as super long and overweight cargo. 

The vessel was delivered in Dalian, and features a length of 226.8 metres, a width of 32.26 metres and a draft of 19.3 metres. The vessel meets the requirements of the CCS B1 ice symbol and Class C polar certificate, has polar navigation capabilities, and can sail in open water and ice less than 80 cm.

The ship deck is equipped with four single cranes, in addition to meet the pulp customer loading requirements, but also meet the requirements of large equipment loading super long overweight. The cargo holds are all box type, and the openings are all open type.

Eye on the pulp market

COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers has continued its path towards establishing itself it the pulp transportation market. The company has cooperated with major pulp manufacturers and provided them access to a fleet of 20 62000-dwt multipurpose pulp vessels.

To further strengthen its position, the company has started the development of 68,000-dwt, 72,000-dwt, 85,000-dwt and other series of multipurpose pulp vessels.
