PRESS RELEASE – Japanese offshore contractor Penta-Ocean Construction has placed an order for a new installation vessel with the PaxOcean Group. The GustoMSC design self-elevating platform will be equipped with a 1,600-tonne main crane and be used to build offshore wind farms in Japan. 

Scheduled for completion in Q3 2022, the self-elevating platform is of a GustoMSC design and equipped with four tubular legs and four azimuth thrusters. It is fitted with a 1,600-tonne leg encircling crane, a large clear deck area of approximately 3,800 square metres, with accommodation designed for 80 persons.

“We believe this new SEP will make a significant contribution to Japan’s offshore wind power generation expansion”, commented CEO of Penta-Ocean Construction, Takuzo Shimizu.

CEO Tan Thai Yong of PaxOcean Holdings added: “This self-elevating platform (SEP) will be built at our yard in Batam, leveraging on our strong track record of having delivered 12 high-quality Jack-ups and SEP’s.”
