Tony Millward to lead OHT’s turbine installation business

PRESS RELEASE – Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) has hired Tony Millward to head up the company’s WTG Installation Business. Millward joins OHT from DEME Offshore,  where he during his 12 years held various positions including Business Unit Manager for the WTG Business Unit.

“‘I am honoured to have been asked to head the WTG team at OHT. The two vessels being brought into the market from 2023 will be state of the art, next-generation jack-ups that will be ready to cope with installation of larger turbines in deeper waters, and I am very excited to be involved with them from such an early stage”, comments Millward.

He added that the combination of political backing, the advent of the 14MW+ turbines, the introduction of new technologies to store the wind energy and the globalization of the industry away from its Northern European roots, mean that the next decade will be bright for the renewable wind market.

In addition to its foundation installation vessel Alpha Lift, OHT has ordered two WTG installation vessels. Building on its fleet of heavy transport vessels, the company intends to create a pure-play offshore wind company that can handle the full transport and installation scope.

Millward will commence in his new position from 1 January 2021.
