Garant places HydroMet buoys in Lithuania

The Lithuanian Garant group completed the first successful hydro-meteorological (HydroMet) buoys placement operation in the Baltic Sea. The data collected by the HydroMet buoys will be used in the development of Lithuania’s first wind farm.

The placement of the two buoys, which will report on water temperature and current strength from the surface, to a depth of up to thirty metres, were manufactured by the Spanish company, EOLOS Floating Lidar Solutions.

The crane vessel Baltic Worker transported the HydroMet buoys from the Lithuanian Port of Klaipėda to the predetermined installation location, in Lithuania’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ). There, it took the seven person diving crew four hours to secure them.
