Hollandse Kust (west) jacket on its way to site

Hollandse Kust (west) offshore wind farm jacket has been spotted on its way to site. The wind farm is located about 52 kilometres off the coast of the Netherlands. The jacket is 50 metres high and weighs 2,300 tonnes.

The jacket was spotted aboard the Malin Augustea CD01 barge. Built in China in 2010, this 137-metres long barge is one of the largest in Europe. It has a beam of 36,58 metres, and a deck area of 4,200 square metres. It has a gross tonnage of 10,449 tonnes. It can also submerge to a maximum of 12 metres, to load vessels and cargo.

The Jacket was sighted passing by Vestas Terminal in Flushing. Indeed, though Vesta is headquartered in Utrecht, the company owns and operates three storage terminals in Antwerp (Belgium), Flushing (The Netherlands) and Tallinn (Estonia).

This transformer station is an essential part for the wind farm area ‘Hollandse Kust (west)’.The Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone will accommodate a 1,400 MW wind farm, with a total surface area (including maintenance and safety zones) of about 176 square kilometres.
