Boskalis’ crane vessel Bokalift 2 has completed the installation of the first XXL monopile foundation for Ørsted’s Revolution Wind offshore wind farm. The Bokalift 2 will be the primary vessel tasked with installing a total of 66 XXL monopiles for the project.

Boskalis will also leverage the Bokalift 1 to install secondary steel elements around the foundations. Additionally, the company will utilise its fleet of semi-submersible heavy transport vessels to deliver the monopiles to the construction site.

“This successful first installation marks a significant milestone for Boskalis and the Revolution Wind project,” Boskalis said. “We are proud to contribute to the development of clean energy infrastructure in the United States.”

Revolution Wind is an ambitious project poised to revolutionize the energy landscape of the region. The 65-turbine wind farm, located 32 miles (51.5 km) southeast of the Connecticut coastline, will generate enough clean, domestic energy to power over 350,000 homes across Connecticut and Rhode Island. Upon its estimated completion in 2025, Revolution Wind will contribute significantly to a cleaner and more sustainable future for both states.

Throughout the project, Boskalis will deploy a diverse fleet of specialized vessels and equipment. US Coastwise-approved PSVs will be covering the secondary steel feedering from ProvPort, offshore completions and environmental monitoring scopes. The ILA is providing key Union support at the Waterson Terminal in ProvPort, and the Building and Carpenter Trades are providing key Union support offshore. In addition to these transport and installation activities, Boskalis subsidiary Gardline is performing environmental monitoring and mitigation activities.

Boskalis’ involvement in the Revolution Wind project underscores its commitment to clean energy solutions and its extensive experience in the offshore wind sector.
