DEME’s DP2 jack-up vessel Apollo has ticked off another milestone for the Ocean Winds’ Moray West offshore wind farm. The vessel has completed the installation of transition pieces for the project located off the east coast of Scotland.

This follows the recent completion of the monopile installation with Orion in April and enables the completion of the 15 MW wind turbine generators (WTG) installation.

“We used innovative bolting tools and specially designed large handling equipment for the giant 90-millimetre (mm) diameter M90 bolts to ensure safe and efficient installation of the transition pieces,” DEME said in a brief statement.

The completion of the transition pieces installation was wrapped up close after the last units were delivered by the manufacturer Lamprell.

The Moray West offshore wind farm will generate 882 MW, powering over 1.3 million homes.
