A complex logistical operation involving three colossal generators has culminated in their successful departure from the Port of Gdansk en route to the massive Taichung power plant in Taiwan.

These behemoths, each weighing a staggering 378 tonnes, were manufactured at the GE factory in Wroclaw, Poland. Their journey began with the transport on a special rail wagon to the Port of Gdansk. Here, the units were loaded onto the 166-meter heavy-lift multipurpose ship, Lisa.

The Gdansk Port Authority’s Exploitation division played a key role in coordinating the transhipment process. However, the crucial task of unloading the generators from the wagons, depositing them in a designated storage yard at the Dworzec Drzewny quay, and finally delivering them to the ship’s side fell under the expert guidance of Port Consultants.

The offloading and subsequent loading onto the Lisa required the combined expertise and equipment of two entities. To manoeuvre the generators from the wagons to the storage yard, a specialized Lift System mobile hydraulic crane, boasting a lifting capacity of 725 tonnes, was employed.

For the final stage of loading the generators into Lisa’s hold, the ship’s crane, with a lifting capacity of 400 tonnes, was utilised. The entire operation was supervised by Horjus Marine Consultancy, ensuring the highest safety standards throughout the process.
