PRESS RELEASE – Dachser Peru has delivered two locomotives to a major railroad customer in Peru. Weighing over 180 tons each, the units were initially received at the Port of Houston and then delivered to the customer facility located in Lima, Peru.

Dachser managed the entire project including loading and offloading, contracting a local heavy haulier, navigating around overpassing traffic and air cables, and ultimately, placing the locomotives son the railroad track with the help of two heavy cranes.

The contract was especially challenging given the current pandemic situation and safety-protocol guidelines, Dachser Peru states.

“The delivery of these two locomotives showcase Dachser’s project cargo logistics capabilities in Peru. Managing all the steps of this type of heavy-lift cargo project can be quite challenging, however, Dachser was able to manage the transport and delivery process without any issue”, said Eduardo Rey, managing director at Dachser Peru.

Dachser Peru is part of the family-owned logistics company Dachser, which has over 31,000 employees at 393 locations worldwide. In 2019, the company generated revenue of 5.7 billion euros, handling a total of 80.6 million shipments with a combined weight of 41million tonnes.
