Ceva Logistics wins major Airbus production supply contract

Ceva Logistics has been awarded the contract to manage Airbus’ production supply at the manufacturer’s aircraft assembly site in Hamburg, Germany. The freight forwarder speaks of “a major expansion of its international aerospace business.”

Ceva will be responsible for the production supply for the A320 structural assembly and the equipping of fuselage sections, as well as the manufacturing and equipping of the A330 and A350 sections in Hamburg. The company will also manage more than 50,000 sqm of warehouse and provide services like inbound, put away/storage, pick and prepare, marketplace, internal transport, delivery to point of use, returns, empties handling and external dispatch.

Within the scope of the new contract, CEVA will initiate and implement logistical improvements and projects, using LEAN principles to further increase efficiency within the facilities.

According to the freight forwarder, the successful management of a spare parts and components contract for Airbus, which was awarded in 2020, was key to winning this new contract.

“Our two companies have successfully worked together previously on other projects, most recently in Hamburg on the spare parts and components contract. The depth of Ceva’s specialist knowledge in this industry, combined with its innovative operational and delivery solutions, have been key to securing this new business”, says Ceva CEO Mathieu Friedberg.

The company will take on existing staff at the Hamburg sites under Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment (TUPE) regulations.
