Drumlins Park wind farm project being developed by Energia Group near Newbliss in County Monaghan, Ireland, has reached a new milestone. The construction started in March 2022 and now the first wind turbine components have reached the site.

The developer said that the first tower sections, measuring 18.2 metres in length have reached the project site. The transport is being undertaken by the heavy-lift and transport specialist Collett & Sons which will be responsible for blade components transport as well. Collett & Sons will deliver 64 components over the course of the project.

Utilising its fleet of specialist tower clamp trailers and super wing carriers, all components depart from the Port of Waterford undertaking night-time deliveries to minimise public traffic disruption.

The project will consist of eight 6.1 MW GE wind turbines generating up to 49 MW of renewable energy. The project remains on track to enter commercial operation in 2024.

Collett & Sons expanding heavy storage capacity

Collett & Sons has made further steps to expand its heavy-lift storage capacity, responding to the demand for bespoke solutions. The company opened its newly built heavy lift warehouse at the Elland Depot Complex.

The new facility features an internal storage area spaning an additional 750 square metres to the existing 3800
square metres, providing a secure and efficient environment for storing valuable heavy-lift cargo. it also features a 25-tonne capacity overhead gantry crane, and a seven-metre height under hook to accommodate oversized cargo.

Furthermore, with the addition of this new heavy lift storage facility, the Elland Depot Complex now offers a substantial total of 4550 square metres of internal heavy lift storage space. This expansion is further complemented by the availability of multiple gantry cranes, ranging in capacities from 5 to 32 Tonne, ensuring the facility can handle a wide spectrum of specialist lifting requirements.
